Flockey - Flockey Web Development

Hello everyone, this post will be kept brief just to inform you that I have just written up a client help sheet. Basically what this is, is a sheet that I will get my future clients to download and they then fill it in. It gives me feedback and of course makes it easier to get to know what type of style of design the client is looking for.

I will also be writing up a client feedback document as well very soon, so I can keep track of how clients are enjoying/not enjoying the service at Flockey and hopefully we can work on any problems and make Flockey a better place.

So I guess thats all I have for now. If you want to leave any comments, by all means do so.

Woohoo! That’s all I can say at the moment. Been studying for a few weeks now and i’ve passed my theory test first time this morning. It’s always one of those nerve racking places to go to. Get your own wee booth and computer. The staff were very calm and very serious looking (I think thats just how us scottish look first thing in the morning though?). Anyways, I strolled through it, all the questions that came up were related in someway to what I was studying at home. So I am pretty chuffed to be honest.

So… bring on the practical driving test!

Hello everyone, Flockey is now looking for some tutorial writers, that are capable of writing quality tutorials. I am looking for writers who have experience in doing this and can show me examples. I am looking for tutorials to be written for design, i.e - Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator related.

I am looking for people to write up at least 500+ words for $20.00. If you exceed the 500 words that would be absolutely fantastic! I am also looking for people who are passionate about design and are willing to write in detail. If you have never written a tutorial before and want to give it a try then by all means contact me, I’ll be more than willing to give it a read and see if it is worthy of going on the blog. If you’ve not noticed yet I have listed this vacancy on the about page and you can apply for it there also using the little contact form. I am really looking forward to hopefully getting some really nice tutorials written by people who have the time and patience. I will try my hardest to get some written by myself, although I cannot promise anything due to the high demand in client work recently, although I will try!

On another note there have been new additions to the portfolio and hopefully some more very soon. The new designs that have been added are DigitalRacing & HolidayForums. Digital Racing is yet another website by a previous client of mine called Ryan Gilmore, the owner of Myp90x which I designed not long ago. Ryan was nice enough to come back to me for more work and I have turned this design around in under 24 hours. I will have another post in the future when this website goes live. As for HolidayForums this was a collaboration by myself & Adam Hall. I was given the project to do by a client who was working with both myself and Adam at the time. This was originally for a website called FreelanceForum although we drastically changed it and i’m extremely happy with the outcome. This has now been sold on.

As many of you know, I stay in Glasgow were basically it rains everyday. We get like 4 hours of summer and thats no joke! Anyways, the rain has actually stopped now, but about half an hour ago it got extreme. It started pelting my window and I actually thought at one moment my window was going to blow away!

My garden is absolutely flooded and I don’t think my dad is going to be too happy when he comes back from holiday, because he spent hours re-planting and cutting the grass before he went away! Oh well, look at the video below and see how bad it really is!

Hello everyone, yet again good news for myself and for Lachy, the owner of WebDevLounge. Recently I posted about my the guest post I wrote for WebDevLounge. Lachy contacted me today and told me that the post link managed to get featured on PSDTuts - a very popular Photoshop tutorial website.

This is good news for Lachy and great news for myself because firstly, both myself & Lachy will be getting some nice traffic and secondly it could attract potential clients for myself.

Hello everyone and welcome to the new blog design. Eventually Josh has managed to get it done and dusted and it is now online. We are going error hunting now and hopefully you could do the same. If you spot and error please let me know, it’d be greatly appreciated

Employment

So, were do I stand as far as employment goes? Well, I have only ever worked with my uncle before and that wasn’t really me full time employed but recently I have had a few emails from companies in Glasgow looking for a full time freelancer, possibly a full time designer job.

As some of you might know, I am still at university and start back on September 22 but I have to meet the company P.A of Nation1’s offices soon. I am extremely excited about meeting this person and looking forward to hopefully (eventually) working for a company in my home city.

I’ll update you all as and when things happen with this.

Flockey’s Business, Freelancing

As far as Flockey is going, it’s doing amazing. I’ve managed to work out some statistics from when Flockey began. The whole of last year from Jan - Dec I made an achievable amount just by freelancing. Since I opened Flockey and since the new design etc I have overcome last years net income greatly. I hope I continue getting the clients that I have been getting recently. All seem very optimistic when working with me and I feel the same to.

Without my clients I wouldn’t be here right now, so I thank you all.
