Hi everyone,

I am pleased to announce that I have launched yet another project (this is getting very cliche :p). Over the past couple of months, I have been working my socks off and launching so many projects. Some mini projects and some relatively bigger ones. You could call this project a bigger one. Introducing, WebDevSuite.com.

“To put it bluntly, this is a blog designed for giving you the best help/ideas/inspiration (more words here) on topics related to the creative part of the web community. Such as designers, entrepreneurs, artists, photographers etc. WebDevSuite gather lots of information for topics related to those subjects and posts it online for everyone to look at.”

Introducing Logolize.com
Posted on December 19th, 2008 in Flockey News, New Projects, Random | No Comments »

Hello everyone, well I made a post earlier about a new project that should be online tonight and yep, it’s done and dusted thanks to Mr. Tomos Wyn who done an awesome job on the Wordpress coding and integration.

Logolize is a daily logo collection and inspiration of logos and brand identities from all over the internet. Basically its nine logos picked at randomly from around the web. The nine logos all link to the website they come from and then below, there is a blog post which will have the logo name and then a link to who designed that logo (the designer/design firm etc).

It’s as easy as that. Wordpress never fails to impress me. It is an extremely versatile piece of software that I will continue to use for future projects. Again a big thanks to Tomos for his amazing work and his effort at punting out this in well under 24 hours! Amazing. Follow him on Twitter.

Again, comments appreciated :)!

Introducing StopCrackin.com
Posted on December 8th, 2008 in Flockey News, New Projects, Random | No Comments »

Hello everyone, I am pleased to announce that I have launched my third mini-project this year, I give to you StopCrackin.com. Basically what StopCrackin allows you to do, is to record how many times you crack your knuckles whilst working at your computer.

The concept is simple. Basically it’s a way of challenging yourself to try and stop doing it. When I am being productive and hard at work, I do it constantly which isn’t very friendly to my hands that I need to work with!

All you have to do, is simply register with a username, password and email address. Once you hit register, a verification link will be sent to your email inbox that you need to click to activate your account. Once you hit the activation link, you will be directed to the home page again were you will log in to the user area. Once in the user area, you will notice the large “StopCrackin” button that is the used to record the amount of times you crack your knuckles. When you click this button, you will notice that next to the specific day & date, the number next to it will go up by one, representing you cracking your knuckles.

This was a website I thought I’d develop to see if I could challenge myself. It’s one of my main habits that i’ve always wanted to stop and I hope this will help. This was always an experiment to see if such a concept could work, so by all means any suggestions and feedback would be awesome :) *List them all in the comments section!*

Kindest regards,
James

Posted on November 3rd, 2008 in Flockey News, New Projects, Promotion Deals, Random | 5 Comments »

Hello everyone, like I promised on Twitter. A new feature or ‘micro-feature’ has been added to Flockey.com. Something that will hopefully attract even more wonderful clients and bring back a few clients from previously. Introducing Flock’A'Buck.

Flock’A'Buck is going to be a place were previous clients can go to. All they have to do is simply enter in the URL of a previous design that we designed for them and they will get $100.00 off their next design with us :)! This service would only be used when the client would be looking to get a design done after submitting their URL.

The Flock’A'Buck feature is valid for every major service that we offer here such as; web design, forum design & wordpress blog design.

So, thats it really. Check it out and by all means take advantage of it :). Be sure to subscribe to the RSS feed.

Contest is almost here and new project!
Posted on September 11th, 2008 in Articles, Contests, Flockey News, New Projects, Random | No Comments »

Hello everyone, yes it’s true the contest is almost here. I have been talking on Twitter about it for a couple of days now and we are almost all set to go. I just want to apologize for the lack of posts recently, just had a lot of client work and trying to get the contest all set. I can say we have some nice prize giveaways, so look forward to it.

I think just now I will give you a break down of how it’s going to work.

Okay, so basically to enter the contest you will have to blog or write about the contest and link to the contest on your post. Then (read this part - very important!) you will have to subscribe to the RSS feed by email, so it is much easier for us to select all the emails and then randomly select the winners using this nifty little tool (thanks Gareth)!

I won’t say no more. Look forward to it tomorrow!

Anyways, moving on shall we? It’s true. I have a new little project in the works. I have eventually gotten around to designing business cards and going to be locally distributing them around the city of Glasgow. If you want to check out the new website here it is.

That’s all for now folks, sorry I have rushed this a little bit. No worries though, contest tomorrow. Look forward to it :) Be sure to follow me on Twitter for all the details :)

Regards,
James

picture-5.png

Hello everyone, I said in my last post that I probably wouldn’t post again until I come back. Yes. You guessed it. I lied. Flockey’s new design is now live and can be seen at Flockey.com. You’ll notice that the blog has now been moved into the /blog/ directory and will be here for the remainder.

I apologize for any missing links or if anything breaks. The blog is the only part that needs coded up. I can tell you now that there will be a design to match, so please don’t worry about the appearance. It’ll be all looking shabby in no time. Big thanks to Josh Craddock for helping me out. He doesn’t have a website at the moment, but i’ll be sure to list it when he does. I’d also like to thank Lucas Gomez, for helping me out with the tiny errors that make a difference, so thank you Lucas.

All of your comments & suggestions are welcome.

Thank you.

Flockey In Development & New Project
Posted on April 28th, 2008 in Flockey News, New Projects | 2 Comments »

Hello everyone, It’s been a week since I last update. Shocking! Anyways, this post will hopefully be worth your while reading. I was originally going to make this post a video blog, although I will leave that for another time.

Firstly, I would just like to speak about whats going to be happening with Flockey in the next couple of weeks. Well I have a new logo in the process of being designed by Dache and I also have a design in the process which is coming on pretty nicely. Below is a small teaser for the new design.

flockey redesign

The re-design will not be a blog, it will simply be a normal web portfolio for me to display my work, testimonials and some way of getting in touch with me. It was also have a section were you can get to know me a little better. I guess I have nothing much else to say about Flockey. It should be online in the next couple of weeks. No longer than a month.

New Project collaberation with Josh Craddock.
Some of you reading this might know of Josh but he is a member over at TalkFreelance and is really talented at what he does. He is a coder and coded this Flockey design and will probably most definitely code the next. Josh managed to punt out and code this design in the space of 7 hours which is truly amazing.

Okay, so new project is it? Sure is. This project is one which we have spoken about a few times now and we are really keen to get started on it. Basically it will be a web design firm with a few various different features to it. At the moment we do not have a name or anything for the site, due to the fact that are brainstorming some of the different ideas that we have for it.

The first idea that Josh came up with was having 20-30 different web design templates (possibly Wordpress designs or a mixture of both) and having them set on some sort of portfolio page being displayed. The visitor would be able to click on one of these ‘thumbnails’ of the design on this page and it would re-direct them to a page were they can see that design fully coded in xhtml/css. If they like what they see, then somewere on the page would be a little contact or ’send’ button were it would redirect the visitor to a page to fill in some details about what content etc they want replaced or what edits they want to the design. Once they hit a submit button, this information would then be passed onto us and then the visitor would be sent an invoice or something for that specific design. Once they have paid then the design would be for them to keep. We are still in two minds of making the 20-30 designs unique, so they can be sold for more or making them for re-sale.

So thats the first idea. The second idea is one which I came up with and it was inspired by a little advertisement which I seen on a bar/cafe wall when I was out and about last weekend. The idea to this was every Tuesday between 11-3 o’clock, a 15 minute turnaround was available. Basically the idea behind this was, when you came into the cafe and taken your seat, when ordering your food & drinks you would be given a little timer set to 15 minutes. As soon as the waiter or waitress took your order, the timer would be set and if you got your lunch delivered to your table in that 15 minute period you would pay for your food normally. However, if your food did not appear on your table in that 15 period, then you wouldn’t be charged a penny and you’d get to eat your food for free.

So, myself and Josh have spoke about this and how we could implement this idea into our design firm. We have been speaking briefly about it and here is what has been said already. We would change the turnaround period to around 6-7 hours and we would have a set menu of various different design & coding jobs that myself and Josh could be capable of doing in that space of time. So in this space of time if we complete the client would pay as normal - we are also thinking of having the prices a little higher than normal due to the work load and dedication required to complete such projects - but if we didn’t complete the project in that time then we obviously wouldn’t give the work for free but we would take a great deal off the price, possibly a normal priced fee or a discounted price, haven’t quite decided.

So thats all I have for now. I would love to hear your comments or suggestions for this project. Thank you for reading Flockey.

If you’d be so kind and subscribe to the RSS Feed that’d be great. You can also sign up via email on the left hand side. Which ever floats your boat. Thanks alot.
